When 16-year-old Ashley Elliott walked onto the stage of Britain’s Got Talent carrying a xylophone, the judges could barely hide their confusion.
A xylophone?
Even the audience didn’t know what to expect.
Ashley explained that he came from a long line of farmers and that for generations, his family had worked on farms. But he wanted something different. He dreamed of making a career out of music — despite choosing one of the most unusual instruments ever seen on the BGT stage.
His family proudly supported him, even joking that one day he might perform at the Royal Variety Show for the Queen herself.
But Simon Cowell looked deeply skeptical.
The second Ashley revealed he was a xylophone player, the judges started laughing and teasing him. Simon especially looked unconvinced, clearly wondering how a xylophone performance could possibly entertain a massive audience.
