From “I Hate Recorders” to Standing Ovation — Egyptian Musician Shocks AGT With Mind-Blowing Beatbox Twist!

No one expected anything special when Medhat Mamdouh walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage. He came from Egypt, holding something so simple, so ordinary — a small wooden recorder.

The audience and even the judges couldn’t hide their reactions. Simon Cowell openly admitted he hated recorders, calling back memories of being forced to play it in school. The panel joked that no famous musician in history had ever made the instrument exciting. The mood was already set — this was going to be forgettable… or so everyone thought.

But Medhat didn’t flinch. He stayed calm, confident, and focused. He explained that he wasn’t just going to “play” the recorder — he was going to perform an original composition that would change the way people see the instrument forever.

And then it started.

At first, it sounded familiar — a soft, beautiful melody flowing from the recorder. It felt traditional, almost peaceful. The audience began to relax… but that calm didn’t last long.

Suddenly, everything changed.

Medhat transformed the stage into something no one expected. While continuing to play the recorder, he added incredible beatboxing at the same time. Two completely different skills — one ancient and melodic, the other modern and rhythmic — merged into a single performance.

The result was unbelievable.

It sounded like a full musical production was happening live from just one person. Layer after layer of sound built up, creating a powerful illusion of multiple instruments playing together. The fusion of Middle Eastern musical influence with urban beatboxing gave the performance a unique identity that the audience had never heard before.

Judges were visibly shocked. Sofia Vergara loved the creativity and energy. Howie Mandel praised how Medhat turned a “forgotten school instrument” into something fresh and exciting. Even Simon Cowell, known for his harsh criticism, was forced to admit he was impressed.

“I’m actually going to say yes,” Simon said — a moment that said everything.

By the end of the performance, Medhat had done more than impress the judges. He completely changed their perception of what music can be. Four unanimous “yeses” sent him forward, and suddenly, his dream of a Vegas stage didn’t feel far away anymore.

What started as skepticism turned into one of the most unexpected musical surprises of the season.
